Think About ItPastor Rich LaskowskiIn an old broken down pickup truck, we headed towards the local dump. I was around 8 andmy dad and grandpa had asked me to go along. I could look down and see the moving roadthrough the holes in the floor boards. My dad backed up to the edge of this huge landfill hole, left the engine on because it was cold, put the stick in neutral and pulled the parking brake. As he exited the truck he said in his most stern voice, "Don't touch anything!"I looked at that parking brake release, and pulled it. Why, I have no idea. The truck lurchedback, and I knew I was in trouble -this was going to be bad. Then in a flash, like a MarvelSuper Hero, my dad slung open the door, jumped into the seat and reset the parking brake, keeping me from rolling down the hill into a massive pile of garbage and junkGod has placed super heroes in our lives to save us from ourselves. We all have teachers, parents, friends, that have been there at the right moment. Today we say thank you to thosewho have loved us enough to jump in and reset the brake as we began the downward roll. They are God's gift.
